So this past weekend I started out my spring break in New York City. My mom decided to take my sister into the city to meet up with one of her friends she used to model with. The travel was planned very poorley, I flew from Wilmington, to Laguardia, to Burlington VT. My mom picked me up, we went to eat lunch then went back to the airport to fly back to JFK.
Despite the run around, we made it into the city Friday night and headed into Times Square to see the bright lights. I have been to NYC before but my little sister has never been so it was an exciting experience for her. We just hung around and ate dinner on Friday becuase Saturday was going to be very busy for us and we needed our energy.
We got up early on Sat. and headed out. The weather was BEAUTIFUL. You didnt even need a jacket when you were walking around. We met up with my mom's friend Ellen at Rockefeller Center and headed all the way down to the bottom of Manhatten to work our way back up. Our first stop was the remains of the Trade Centers. It was kind of an eerie experience seeing it again and realizing what had actually happened there. We started walking back to mid town and stopping all along the way to do some sight seeing and shopping. We went through So-Ho and eventually grabbed a taxi back to the hotel. After a short 30 min break we headed back out for dinner and our show.
We were going to go see Billy Elliot. And if you have never seen the movie you need to rent it! It is about a young boy growing up in Brittan during the coal strike. He is a boxer but desperately wants to become a ballerina. I think that the show was MUCH better than the movie, although both are great. The lead in the broadway is a fourteen year old boy and it is incredible to think that someone so young can be such a good dancer starring on broadway.
We got up the next day and headed home. Its nice to be back in my own house but there is honestly nothing to do here. Im not wishing my vacation away, I just wish there were more exciting things going on...
